D-League: Summers heats up, leads Red Claws over SkyForce

Fab Melo has been otherworldly in his past two games, but this one belonged to DaJuan Summers.

The well-traveled6′ 8″, 240 pound Georgetown product scored 22 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead six Red Claws in double figures and Maine pulverized Host Sioux Falls 106-94.

Melo finished with 14 points and six boards and Micah Downs had another strong game, scoring 13 with 7 rebounds and matching dimes for Maine, who raised their record to 9-4 with the win.  Xavier Silas chipped in with 19 points and Chamberlain Oguchi poured in 16.

The SkyForce were paced by Demtrius Nichols with 17 points and 7 boards while Gabe Pruitt dished out 8 helpers  to go along with 13 points and Dexter Pittman crashed the boards for a game high 10 rebounds.

The game was nip and tuck throughout the 1st half, Maine jumping out to a 10 point lead at the end of 1, but Sioux Falls cut the lead to 3 at the half – only to get blown out of their own building in the 3rd.

The Red Claws poured it on, outscoring the SkyForce by 14 in the period, solid defense limiting them to 21 points and taking a seventeen point lead into the 4th.  The Red Claws cruised from there.

Maine was out rebounded  by a 50-36 margin by the SkyForce, who also committed 21 turnovers to fall to 7-5 on the season.

These two teams meet again tomorrow night in Sioux Falls.  Game time is 8:00pm and can be seen live on YouTube here .
