Saints (5-0) vs. Patriots (4-1)
Time: 4:25 PM
Location: Gillette Stadium
TV/Radio: FOX/98.5 The Sports Hub
New England’s keys to victory:
1. Pick your poison: The Saints, like the Falcons, possess numerous offensive weapons. We saw the Patriots effectively shutdown Roddy White and Julio Jones, while limiting Tony Gonzalez in key moments. New England emerged victorious. If they can do the same with Jimmy Graham, Marques Colston and Darren Sproles, they’ll give themselves a chance to hang tough.
2. Keep the defense honest: When the Patriots work to establish the run, Tom Brady is given an oppurtunity to set up the play action pass. Last week we saw the Patriots run the ball well, but not enough. Unfortunately for one reason or the other, McDaniels and the offense went away from it. They became one-dimensional and the passing attack faltered. With Stevan Ridley back in the lineup look for the Patriots to make a consceious effort in poudning the rock.
3. Generate a pass rush: Drew Brees is one of the best, if not the best pocket passer in the NFL today. He is precise with all his throws. He has a bevy of weapons at his disposal and will find a way to beat you if given time to do so. Chandler Jones, Rob Ninkovich, Donta Hightower and the rest of the Patriots front seven need to get into the back field and give Brees something to think about.
