Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid exited Saturday night’s game against the Maple Leafs at 7:52 of the first period with an apparent lower-body injury. He logged just 0:44 of ice time on two shifts and was taken to the dressing room for further examination.
McQuaid’s injury was not due to any sort of contact. He had abruptly stopped skating while retrieving a lose puck from behind his own goal when he collapsed to the ice. McQuaid was unable to put pressure on his right leg and his teammates assisted him off the ice.
No official word was released regarding the injury. McQuaid was seen reaching for his groin area prior to falling down.
The Bruins ultimately defeated the Maple Leafs 3-1 despite losing a key player in the process. Matt Bartkowski would replace McQuaid along the blue line if he were forced to miss any time.
