The Boston Bruins are winners of three straight contests and sit just one point out of first place in the Eastern Conference in large part due to the play of goaltender Tuukka Rask. Boston blanked the Tampa Bay Lightning on Veterans Day, 3-0.
Rask has been a force in goal since opening night. Monday’s shutout marked his second against the Lightning this season. He now has 18 career shutouts.
Tampa Bay boasts one of the NHL’s best offenses, including top goal-scorer Steven Stamkos. Rask has allowed only one goal in three starts against them, while stopping 83 of 84 shots. He’s surrendered just two goals over the last 179:57 of play.
Rask has a 10-4-1 record and ranks among the top NHL net minders in every statistical category. His .948 SV% and two shutouts are good for best in the league. Josh Harding of Minnesota is the lone goalie with a higher GAA.
The scuffling Columbus Blue Jackets will invade TD Garden for the fifth and final game of the Bruins current home stand on Thursday night. Rask will look to continue his dominance against this vulnerable opponent.
