The Bruins, already playing without Adam McQuaid, lost another defenseman to injury in Tuesday night’s victory over the New York Rangers. Dennis Seidenberg left the tilt in the opening period and did not return.
Seidenberg’s injury is unclear, as the Bruins have yet to make an announcement regarding the specifics. The injury is believed to be in the lower-body region.
Boston has called up Kevan Miller on an emergency basis to compensate for their latest blow to the blue line. The 26-year-old point man has played admirable defense thus far this season in the AHL with Providence.
Millar has yet to appear in an NHL game during his career and is currently in his fourth professional season. He plays with grit, toughness and physicality. With that being said, Miller will fit into the Bruins system.
It’s certainly not easy to replace a defensive stalwart in Seidenberg, but Miller will likely get an opportunity along the backend Thursday night against the St. Louis Blues.
