Bailey and Kalish cut loose by Red Sox

Andrew Bailey and Ryan Kalish are no longer members of the Boston Red Sox, as the club decided not to tender the two impending free agents contract renewals by Monday’s deadline.

Bailey underwent season-ending shoulder surgery on July 24, just one season after only appearing in 19 games for Boston. Considering his health concerns and less than stellar performances out of the pen, it’s not surprise the Red Sox decided to cut ties with the 29-year-old.

Ryan Kalish, 25, also fell victim to an injury plagued 2013 campaign. Kalish appeared in zero games after undergoing shoulder surgery in January and then cervical fusion surgery in August. The Red Sox once had high hopes for the outfielder.

Mike Carp, Andrew Miller, Burke Badenhop, Junichi Tazawa and Franklin Morales were all tendered contract offers.
