Johnny Boychuk was stretchered off the ice at the Bell Centre after Montreal forward Max Pacioretty hit him from behind on Thursday night.

Pacioretty was issued a two-minute boarding minor for a hit that delayed the game several minutes, as Boston’s blue-liner was tended to by the medical staff.

The hit on Boychuk took place along the boards to the right of Carey Price in Montreal’s end. It wasn’t that the hit was overly aggressive; it was the way Boychuk’s head banged against the boards.

Boychuk was taken to Montreal General Hospital for further observation. There is no word yet regarding his status.

Although Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli did report that Boychuk had movement in all of his extremities prior to being transported away.

Boston ultimately lost the game, falling 2-1 to their bitter divisional rival.
