A Tale of Two Tankers - Boston Celtics Vs. Utah Jazz Preview

The Boston Celtics finish their west coast road trip in Utah against the Jazz this evening. The Celts have lost four in a row and with a loss tonight, would be in great shape in the race to the bottom of the league. It is obvious however, with the ejections of Gerald Wallace and coach Brad Stevens in their loss to the Sacramento Kings that they aren’t as happy as I am about the losing streak.

Utah and Boston have similar records and this game should showcase both of the team’s flaws. The Jazz have a lot of trouble scoring. Rookie point guard Trey Burke had hit a bit of a rookie wall, but has played well in his last three games. Enes Kanter has come alive, and after a disappointing start to the season, is beginning to show why the team plans to build around a front court of him and Derrick Favors. Add-in Gordon Hayward and one would think the Jazz would have a formidable offense….they don’t. The Jazz can’t shoot. They don’t move the ball well. Their bench stinks. But I do like what they are building towards and I expect them to beat the Celtics this evening.

As for our C’s, they need to stop turning the ball over. In the last few weeks, they have jumped to 14.5 turnovers a game. Jeff Green and Rajon Rondo have been the consistent bright spots for the team. They play very hard, but this trip seems to have taken something out of the roster. With so many young guys giving it their all on a nightly basis, I don’t think there will be enough to beat the Jazz in Salt Lake City.

Prediction: Jazz 91, Celtics 84
