I am not sure if anyone is noticing, but Anthony Davis has been playing out of his mind lately. In his last five games, “the Brow” is averaging nearly 31 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks a game. Read those number again. The Boston Celtics don’t pose much of a threat to slow down Davis, as they have struggled with big men all season long. Remember, Cole Aldrich had a double-double this week in about 25 minutes, so Davis could have a monster night if the game is close.
The Celtics do have the advantage in the back court over the Pelicans. Eric Gordon and Tyreke Evans are not having the best season, and also don’t play much defense. Rajon Rondo should have a field day running the offense against the Pellies, and Avery Bradley’s second game back can maybe help these Celts with their current shooting woes.
Jeff Green has been shooting a lot as of late, but not hitting much. He should be able to get some clean looks from the field, but may have trouble getting to the rim with Davis lurking. Hopefully, he puts up a strong effort in New Orleans to get his confidence back to where it was about a month ago.
It should be a fun game to watch as these two teams may lose a lot, but play hard almost every night. Davis alone is worth the price of admission, so tune in tonight at 6:00 p.m. EST to watch one of the best 15 players in the league continue to progress.
Prediction: Celtics 94, Pelicans 92
