2014 NCAA Tournament: UMass Outlook

Welcome to the madness!! We are going to give you a short preview of each of the regional team’s outlook in this year’s  first weekend of the NCAA tournament. UMass, Harvard, UConn, and Providence earned births to the big dance, and all of these teams will put their seasons on the line this thursday or friday. We will also be posting links to where you can watch the live stream of each game before it begins.

Here is the outlook for the University of Massachusetts:

Who: The winner of Iowa Vs. Tennessee

The No.6 seed Minute Men will have their hands full with whatever team they face in the second round. Iowa can score, especially for a Big Ten team, and Tennessee has an good inside-out game that fits tournament play.

When: Friday 2:45 EST

Potential Third Round Matchup: Duke

New Englanders will be pulling for Mercer to come away with the upset over the Blue Devils. But I wouldn’t get my hopes up…

Will they get to the Sweet 16?: No

I don’t think UMass would have the guard play to get past both Iowa/Tennessee and Duke. If Mercer can beat Duke, then they have a shot, but a lot of things would have to go right for UMass to make it to the last sixteen.
