Game #71: Boston Bruins (48-17-5) vs. Phoenix Coyotes (34-25-11)
Location: Jobbing.com Arena, Phoenix
Time: 9:00 p.m.
TV/Radio: NESN/98.5 The Sports Hub
The Boston Bruins will be in the desert Saturday night to take on the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobbing.com Arena. This meeting will mark the second and final between the two sides this season. The Bruins defeated the Coyotes on Mar. 13 at TD Garden, 2-1.
Boston extended its win streak to 11 games on Friday in shutting out the Avalanche. They’ll put a 16-4-4 record against on the Western Conference on the line tonight when they look to make Phoenix win number 12 in a row.
The Coyotes are on a three game winning streak.
In the last meeting between these teams, the Bruins held off a third period push from the Coyotes. Tuukka Rask stood tall in net.
The Bruins are playoff bound, having already clinched a spot in the postseason dance. Phoenix on the other hand is clinging to the eighth and final spot in the West.
Boston won’t be easing up though. They stress how important it is to avoid growing complacent. The Coyotes will be desperate for points. This clash has the potential to be similar to their last meeting, a hard-nosed, grind-it-out affair.
Patrice Bergeron has now scored for Boston in back-to-back games. Jarome Iginla has tallied six goals in the last five games. Rask will likely be in net for the Bruins considering Chad Johnson played Friday night. Rask has won six straight starts.
Mike Smith will be in net for the Coyotes. He’s been hot of late as well. Smith is 7-2 in his last nine starts. He played well in Boston earlier this month.
