Boston Red Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles Preview: (9-10)

It is Patriots’ Day in New England, and that means morning baseball and the marathon! Today will be a day of remembrance and hopefully closure for the city of Boston. The runners will get a chance to finish the Boston Marathon and achieve their goals. Today, we will show the world just how strong we are; Boston Strong.

First pitch for today’s game is at 11:05 AM ET. The Red Sox look to build off of last nights comeback win and take three out of four from the Orioles. They are still fighting injuries, but are slowly gaining confidence and starting to look like last year’s team.

The pitching matchup for today’s game will be Clay Buccholz against Wei-Yin Chen. Buchholz got roughed up in his first start, but has bounced back nicely in his last two. He has gone six innings allowing two earned runs and striking out six in his last two outings. Look for him to stay on track and have a solid outing today. Chen is 2-1 with a 4.76 ERA with his lone loss coming against the Red Sox earlier this season. This game will most likely not be a pitchers’ duel.

Brock Holt has been a spark for the team in the last few games. Holt has gone 4-10 with 2 RBIs since coming up. He has also added solidarity to the shaky defense. Holt will get a big chance to continue to prove himself batting leadoff today.

Red Sox lineup according to the team’s twitter account (@RedSox):

  1. Holt 3B
  2. Pedroia 2B
  3. Ortiz DH
  4. Napoli 1B
  5. Gomes LF
  6. Bogaerts SS
  7. Nava RF
  8. Ross C
  9. Bradley Jr. CF

Enjoy the early afternoon baseball and have a safe Patriots’ Day!
