Any Chance The Celtics Get Some Kevin Love?

Some interesting news came out of Minnesota this week that may have gotten the attention of the Celtics.

Kevin Love announced that he is formally requesting a trade out of Minny, somewhat similar to another big man several years ago. There seems to be many suitors for the former UCLA Bruin, and the Celtics must be looking into some sort of deal. Love has said his preferences are Chicago and Golden St. but there have been rumors in the past linking Love to Boston.

Do I think Love gets traded to the C’s? No, but is it out of the realm of possibility? Not at all!

I think the best chance the Celtics have at landing Kevin Love would be before this year’s NBA Draft. Considering that Boston has two first-round picks, potentially one in the top five, Minnesota would have to take a long, hard look at an offer from Beantown.

Here would be on for example:

Boston gets:

Love, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute

Minnesota gets:

Brandon Bass, Jared Sullinger, Avery Bradley, Kris Humphries, 2014 first-round choice (Boston’s)

It isn’t the sexiest deal on the table, but for the Timberwolves, that is a lot of value for Love. They only add Bass’s contract in terms of long-term money, plus getting rid of Mbah a Moute, and they get a good prospect in Sullinger and Hump’s expiring deal to go along with a blue-chip pick in this draft. Would the Celtics do that deal? I would hope so because they could build around Rondo and Love with some money to spare once Gerald Wallace‘s deal is off the books, but odds are, none of this will be discussed anyway and we can look forward to playing against Love twice a year after he goes to the Lakers….

I would like this trade if they do not have to give up their 2014 pick. Maybe include next year’s pick. I really would like to see Aaron Gordon in a Celtics uniform.
