The New England Patriots have signed first round draft pick Dominique Easley, announced the team Monday.
New England selected Easley, a defensive tackle out of the Univeristy of Florida, with the number 29 overall selection in this year’s draft.
Easley, along with three other rookies, played through the duration of mini-camp having not been signed to a contract. The terms of Easley’s contract were not released by the team.
In addition to the Easley contract agreement, New England announced a second rookie signing. The team inked offensive lineman Chris Tillman to fill out their 90-man roster ahead of July’s training camp.
When it comes to Easley’s situation though, it’s believed the Patriots were somewhat more hesitant when it came to drafting a contract.
The standout defensive stud suffered an ACL injury last year at Florida. His recovery forced him to miss a portion of mini-camp.
After witnessing him perform in a healthy fashion at the tail-end of mini-camp, New England was most likely at ease with offering a fair deal in which both sides could agree upon.
The length and financial aspects of Easley’s contract will likely be revealed in the coming days. Stay tuned.
