Boston Celtics set to begin Summer League play

The Boston Celtics will kick-off their Summer League schedule on Saturday in Orlando against the Miami Heat. Fans will get their first professional look at 2014 first-round draft picks Marcus Smart and James Young.

Along with Smart and Young, current Celtics Kelly Olynyk, Phil Pressey, Chris Johnson and Chris Babb will headline the summer roster.

Boston will play five Summer League games in total. Head Coach Brad Stevens will participate very little in the league. Assistant Coach Jay Larranaga will be in charge of the team.

A medley of European players will fill out Larranaga’s roster. Colton Iverson was selected by the Celtics in 2013 draft. He played this past season over seas and will participate in the games. Veterans O.D. Anosike, Dairis Bertans and Edwin Jackson will also see action.

The Celtics also invited rookie free agents Mike Moser, Devin Oliver and Daniel Coursey to tag along.

Their full Summer League schedule is as follows:

July 5 – 11 a.m. vs. Miami

July 7 – 3 p.m. vs. Indiana

July 9 – 7 p.m. vs. Detroit

July 10 – 5 p.m. vs. Orlando
