The St. Louis Cardinals are interested in trading for Boston Red Sox starter Jake Peavy, according to ESPN’S Jayson Stark. Stark also reports a deal could be assembled quickly.

It hasn’t been a smooth go of it this season for Peavy. The 33-year-old is 1-7 with a 4.64 ERA. He’s struck out 84 batters in 110.2 innings pitched over 18 starts.
Peavy was a long time member of the National League. He spent eight seasons with the San Diego Padres. Peavy would likely experience more success because he’s familar with many of the teams in that league.
The backend of the Cardinal rotation is weak at the moment due to injury. Peavy would certainly be a better option than what they’ve been trotting out their in recent weeks.
Peavy is under contract for $14.5 million this season. It’s unknown what the Redbirds are offering the Sox in return for his services.
