Known primarily for his work with the glove, Boston Red Sox center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. did something that few Major League-ballplayers have done, on camera at least.
NESN reporter Gary Striewski challenged Bradley, who on Saturday picked up his 11th outfield assist, that the young outfielder couldn’t throw a baseball over the center-field fence from home plate at Fenway Park.
Well here is how that scenario played out:
Now I was aware that Bradley Jr. had a strong arm, but after this video makes its rounds on the internet, baserunners may think twice before taking any extra bases against the improving ballplayer.
Jackie Bradley Jr. is also making waves at the plate at of late. He has raised his batting average to .223 after going 2-for-3 with two runs scored in Boston’s latest victory over the Kansas City Royals.
This is what the Red Sox brass had in mind when having Bradley Jr. start the 2013 season with the big-league club. After a slow start then and another poor start this year, it appears that the athletic-outfielder is getting comfortable in the MLB, especially with regard to the unique contours of Fenway.
Red Sox Nation should keep an eye out for the next time Bradley guns down another man on the bases, as this latest video should strike a lot of fear into opponents during Boston’s stretch run.
