Boston Bruins to make 17 appearances on national television

The Boston Bruins will play 17 of their 82 games in 2014-2015 on national television, according to the U.S. viewing schedule announced Tuesday.

Twelve of those games will be exclusively broadcasted on national television and air on either NBC or NBC Sports Network. Five of the games will be available for local viewing on NESN in addition to the national slot.

Boston’s season opener against the Philadelphia Flyers will be televised on NBC Sports Network, beginning at 7:30 p.m. on October 8.

The Bruins will also play the Detroit Red Wings four times, the Minnesota Wild twice and the Pittsburgh Penguins twice on NBC Sports Network. They’ll battle their rival Montreal on Sunday, February 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Another marquee matchup slated to air on NBC on February 22 will be the Bruins lone visit to the United Center where they’ll square-off with the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Los Angeles Kings, Washington Capitals, San Jose Sharks and Flyers will also play 12 games on national television.

The Bruins have been one of the NHL’s most dominant teams over the past few years. This schedule comes as no surprise. They’re entertaining, hardnosed and hockey fans appreciate their old-school style of play. Simply put, people enjoy watching the black-and-gold.
