The New England Patriots will begin their 2014 training camp on Thursday behind Gillette Stadium out on the team’s practice fields. Each day of the opening week will feature a practice session and a Patriots Fan Zone, which will offer fun activities to take part in. The practices will be free of charge, as will the parking.
Here’s what the schedule for week one of training camp looks like:
Thursday, July 24 – Practice begins at 9:15 a.m., Fan Zone runs from 10 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.
Friday, July 25 - Practice begins at 9:15 a.m., Fan Zone runs from 10 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.
Saturday, July 26 - Practice begins at 9:15 a.m., Fan Zone runs from 10 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.
Sunday, July 27 - Practice begins at 9:15 a.m., Fan Zone runs from 10 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.
The dates and times for week 2 of training camp have yet to be determined, according to the team’s website.
New England will host the Philadelphia Eagles for a pair of joint practices on August 12 and 13. Both sessions with Chip Kelly’s squad will be held at 2:00 p.m. They hosted the Eagles last season as well.
90 players will be reporting to camp. Bill Belichick will run the practices. Each session will feature individual positional drills and a teams up portion in which the offense runs plays on the defense.
The Patriots open up pre-season play on August 7 against the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field in the nation’s capital.
Observing training camp offers fans of all ages an up-close opportunity to observe their favorite players, as well as lesser known guys who are vying for a roster spot.
