New England Patriots running back Jonas Gray turned in a dominating performance on Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts, propelling the club to their sixth straight win. Gray ran with authority as the offensive line decimated the opposing front seven en route to a 42-20 beating.

Gray, playing in just his fourth game this season, had himself a night to remember for some time to come. The undrafted rookie out of Notre Dame amassed 199 yards on 38 carries. He had 32 carries combined in his prior three appearances. Gray’s 77 rushing yards on the opening drive set the tone for a big evening.

Perhaps most impressively, Gray, punched in four touchdowns. His four trips to paydirt set a Patriots franchise record for the most touchdown scampers in a single game. In doing so, Gray also become the seventh player in NFL history to reach at least 150 yards and four scores in a game.

As if the Patriots offensive attack wasn’t scary enough with the passing game firing on all cylinders, they now have a punishing, downhill rushing game to balance things out. Nate Solder, Dan Connolly, Ryan Wendell, Bryan Stork and Cameron Fleming dominated the point of attack. Rob Gronkowski and James Develin threw some monster blocks as the Patriots controlled the game in impressive fashion.

More from New England Patriots

Gray was promoted from the Patriots practice squad after Stevan Ridley went down with an injury in Buffalo earlier this season. Since then, the humble runner has worked on perfecting his craft through hard work and dedication. He says receiving the up-most support from those around him has gone a long way as well.

“I remember walking into the building and Mr. Kraft pulled me aside and said, You’re going to have a big game this week, so be ready. Just hearing that from the owner, just hearing that from the head coach, hearing that from the leaders of the team definitely gives you a positive outlook and definitely gives you the mindset to go out and do your best,” Gray said following the game.

In victory, Gray helped the Patriots improve to 8-2 in the AFC. They now hold the conference’s top overall spot. The team controls its own destiny moving forward as the road to the Super Bowl could come through Foxboro.

For now though at least, Gray plans on making the most of the remaining games this season with the hopes of future breakout performances.

“I’m blessed. I got the opportunity, and I’m going to keep doing what I can with it,” said Gray.
