David Price and the Boston Red Sox offense dominated the Baltimore Orioles in a 12-2 rout to kick off a seven-game homestand at Fenway Park.

The Boston Red Sox are rolling just at the right time. On Monday, David Price took the mound to kick off a seven-game homestand. With a combination of solid pitching and explosive offense, the Red Sox went on to rout the Baltimore Orioles 12-2 at Fenway Park.

Price once again showed just why Boston maid him the highest-paid pitcher in team history. He picked up his seventh consecutive win, allowing just two hits over eight complete innings. Price also struck out nine batters and walked just one in one of his best performances of the season.

The only runs scored by the Orioles came off of solo blasts from both Chris Davis and Manny Machado. Those happened to be the only two hits Baltimore could manage off of Price. With the victory, the lefty improved his record to 16-8 and lowered his ERA to 3.81.

Power attack at Fenway Park: Old friend Wade Miley didn’t last long for the Orioles. The Red Sox bats got to him early and often. Boston ran off to an early 5-0 lead in the first inning. As usual, Mookie Betts helped the fast start with a two-RBI double in that first inning. Boston was also aided by three solo home runs in three consecutive innings.

Hanley Ramirez launched a home run in the fourth, Chris Young in the fifth and David Ortiz hit his 33rd homer off the season in the sixth inning. Overall, the 16-hit attack showed why the Red Sox are going to be tough down the stretch, especially with solid starting pitching.

More from Boston Red Sox

Yoan Moncada: The infielder got his first Fenway Park at-bat in the seventh inning. He struck out in the inning marking the ninth consecutive time he has struck out. His struggles so far with the big club have caused the team to step back a bit in pushing his progress.

Call to the bullpen: The Red Sox didn’t need much relief due to the solid performance from David Price. It was nice, however, to see Junichi Tazawa come in and pitch a scoreless inning in the ninth. He allowed just one walk in the outing.

Drew Pomeranz: The lefty hopes to continue the team’s recent stretch of solid performances against AL rivals. He will pitch the middle game of the three-game series Tuesday. He will go up against Orioles right-handed pitcher Dylan Bundy.
