One former NFL quarterback has called Patriots quarterback Tom Brady as the greatest quarterback of all time.

It’s official! Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is the greatest QB in NFL history according to former Buffalo Bills legend Jim Kelly.  He made the proclamation during ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” on Monday night.

Kelly cited Brady’s age and current play as a couple of reasons as to why he doesn’t mind calling the Patriots QB the greatest of all time.

More from New England Patriots

"“The consistency, every single year he does it. And he doesn’t have, all time, the greatest players around him,” Kelly said via Yahoo! Sports.  “A lot of times they are in and out — [Wes] Welker is gone, a couple other guys are gone. He does have a great one in [Rob] Gronkowski, but the thing is he makes it work and it doesn’t matter what it is.”"

Besides beating his former team for a record-tying 26 times this past Sunday, Kelly also referenced Brady’s current currents in the four games since he has returned.  The 39-year-old quarterback has thrown for 1,319 yards and 12 touchdowns.  He has also shown great pocket awareness and scrambled for a couple big first downs.

Brady has been so good at his age that Kelly said he has jokingly told him to retire.  At least, it appears that he was joking.

"“I continue to tell him year after year, it’s time for you to retire. C’mon, Tom, retire, bud,” Kelly joked. “I say it all the time.”"

Kelly also provided the blueprint for beating Brady at his current pace.  He says pressure up the middle is probably one of the only ways to rattle the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback.  That is what has worked in the past and that is what will have to work in order to knock the Patriots off their throne this season.

"“And Tom doesn’t take that many hits, either,” Kelly continued. “He’s in that pocket, and if you’re going to beat a Tom Brady, you have to pressure him up the middle, making sure he doesn’t step up in the pocket. If you don’t get any middle pressure, you’re in for a long, long day.”"
