With just over two weeks to the NHL’s trade deadline, Colorado Avalanche Executive Vice President and Hall of Famer Joe Sakic is in town scouting the Boston Bruins and their prospects.

The Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche have been linked to trade talks for months. Now, with the trade deadline approaching, things seem to be heating up. Av’s Executive Vice President Joe Sakic was at the TD Garden Sunday as the Bruins blanked the Montreal Candiens 4-0. Sakic’s team was in Brooklyn with a matchup against the Islanders, so this was clearly a pre-trade scouting trip for the Hall of Famer. According to reports, at least two more Avalanche officials were in Boston for the game.

Sakic was seen chatting with Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney for almost the entirety of the second intermission.

Most Bruins and Avalanche talk has surrounded their captain Gabriel Landeskog. Initially, the Bruins were reluctant to pursue the captain, as they felt they would need to give up too many pieces. Now though, Brandon Carlo may have been put back on the table.

More from Boston Bruins

The Av’s officials will also reportedly attend today’s Beanpot final between Boston University and Harvard. The Bruins boast two players from each of those schools current rosters. Terrier defenseman Charlie McAvoy and forward Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson, as well as Crimson forward Ryan Donato and defenseman Wiley Sherman, will all play in the Final. McAvoy is the cream of the crop of the four, as his stock has continued to rise since his 14th overall selection by the Bruins in the 2016 Draft.

Forsbacka Karlsson has drawn Patrice Bergeron comparisons and could become a pawn in a Bruins-Avs trade.

Next: Lights Out Marchand

The Avalanche are clearly in full rebuild mode, and are looking to make a deal. If the Bruins can offer Carlo and another young prospect, Gabriel Landeskog could see himself in Boston, helping to make a playoff push for the team.
