New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has had his usual offseason fun, but looking forward to returning to the football field.

Don’t let movie appearances and WWE sightings fool you.  New England Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski misses the football field and is anxious to compete once again.

The All-Pro tight end sent out a Tweet Sunday night proving just how anxious he is to help his football team defend their Super Bowl title.

Gronkowski, who only played eight games in 2016, has been recovering and progressing nicely from back surgery that brought his season to an early end.  The big tight end vowed to be a part of the team if and when they win their sixth championship.

The proclamation put the idea of him possibly retiring due to the back injury to rest…at least mentally.  Gronkowski’s road to full strength will depend on how much the back holds up and how much his body responds to the rehab.

At least for now, it is great to see Rob Gronkowski eager to get back on the football field, especially with the type of offseason moves the team has made.  While they have lost fellow tight end Martellus Bennett, the team has added tight end Dwayne Allen and explosive wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

In winning their fifth Super Bowl title, the New England Patriots have proved they can win without Gronkowski.  However, with the addition of Allen and Cooks, along with a health Gronk, the team may not have to wait long at all to hoist that sixth Vince Lonbardi Trophy.

Gronkowski sends message of inspiration to sick child

The New England Patriots overcame the most improbable odds to erase a 25-point deficit to win Super Bowl LI.  While he wasn’t a part of the great comeback on the field, Rob Gronkowski used comeback as inspiration for a sick fan who does not have that long to live.

In a video message, Gronkowski told six-year old Devin Suau to stay strong and keep fighting against a rare form of cancer called DIPG.

"“What’s up Devin, it’s Rob Gronkowski here,” Gronkowski said in the video shared on Twitter.  “Heard you are a huge Patriots fan and heard when we were down 25 points in the Super Bowl that you never gave up hope and you kept on rooting for us.  I want to say stay strong man, keep on fighting and let’s go Patriots.”"

Gronkowski is one of a group of athletes who have rallied about Devin.  One of those athletes include teammate Tom Brady and the Boston Red Sox organization.
