New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman shared an apology letter from a former professor who doubted his NFL hopes.

When it comes to dreams, don’t let anyone deter you from accomplishing your goals.  That is the message New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman sent when he shared an apology letter from a former professor on social media.

In the letter, the professor apologized to Edelman for doubting that he would make it to the NFL.

At the time, the Patriots leading playoff receiver was attending the College of San Mateo, a community college near Redwood City, California.

Edelman played football there before he transferred to Kent State as a quarterback.  With his size and the fact that he was playing football at CSM, the England professor probably didn’t think he actually had a shot to make it.

Luckily, Julian Edelman didn’t take the words to heart.  He went on to become one of the best receivers in the NFL and is one of the most recognizable athletes in Boston, if not the entire country.

The dedication and hard work he shows on the field is the prime reason he continues to strive in the NFL.  That’s why the letter is so motivational.  No one out there should allow another person’s doubts stop them from achieving, even if it is from someone who should know better.

The part of the letter that really stands out is when the professor states:

"“I don’t think it fazed you, frankly, but whenever I think back on it, I feel terrible, not because you proved me wrong, but because I stupidly voiced an uneducated opinion that implied I had distain for your passion for the game.  I think it was early in the semester, before I knew you, but how I could ever have doubted your tenacity and grit is beyond me!”"

That tenacity and grit has transformed into 425 career receptions for 4,540 yards and 24 touchdowns.

More impressively, Julian Edelman was a monumental force in the two Super Bowl comeback victories of the New England Patriots.  That includes an unbelievable catch in Super Bowl LI that the nation couldn’t believe he made.
