Marcus Smart is one of the best defenders in the entire NBA. The league finally decided to reward the Boston Celtics guard by naming him to the all-defensive first team.

The heart and soul of the Boston Celtics is Marcus Smart. He is the guy who sparks the entire team and should probably be the main leader in the locker room.

Smart is known for being one of the best defenders in the NBA. There isn’t anyone that he can’t guard.

The NBA finally gave Marcus Smart the credit he deserves by naming him to the all-defensive first team for the first time in his career.

Smart was once again amazing on defense this season. He averaged 1.8 steals a game, a PER of 13.1, and 3.1 defensive win shares.

When Smart is on the court he leaves it all out there. I’m pretty sure in preseason games he will still be taking charges.

The Boston Celtics need more guys like Marcus Smart. He may not be amazing on offense but he works hard and is always looking for his teammates.

This season was an improvement on the offensive side of the ball for Smart. He averaged 8.9 points a game and his shooting percentage skyrocketed to .422 and his 3 point percentage jumped to .364.

If Smart can continue to improve as a shooter he will become an even bigger part of the Boston Celtics rotation and gain some more minutes.

The fact that it has taken this long for Smart to land on the all-defensive first team is insane. Ever since the start of his career you could see how great of a defender he was.

Celtics fans are pumped to see that the NBA is finally getting the respect that he deserves. This surely won’t be the last team we see Marcus Smart on the all-defensive first team.
