The Patriots entered the 2013-2014 playoffs with a 12-4 record that was good enough for the number 2 seed in the AFC Conference, and a bye to start the playoffs. The Indianapolis Colts entered the playoffs facing off against the the Cincinnati Bengals and after a nail biting finish where they edged the Bengals 45-44, Andrew Luck had a date with Tom Brady for the chance to go to the AFC Conference Championship. The game started off poorly for Luck as he threw an interception to Alfonzo Dennard not even 2 minutes into the game, the interception got the Patriots on the Colts 2 yard line and allowed LeGarrette Blount to punch it in for the touchdown giving the Patriots an early 7-0 lead. The Patriots nor Blount would led up after that score, Blount had a career night scoring 4 touchdowns including a 73 yard touchdown run that all but sinked the Colts chances of advancing to the AFC Conference Game. The Patriots defeated the Colts 43-22, earning them a date with the number 1 seeded Denver Broncos at Mile High Stadium with a chance to go to Super bowl XLVIII.Â
