Kyrie Irving has been turning some necks while with the Boston Celtics. Let’s take a look at the best shoes he has worn this season.

This one is for all my fellow sneaker heads out there. It seems like it has been an eternity since anyone from the Boston Celtics has had anything to do with the shoe industry. The last player I can remember having a shoe deal was Larry Bird with Converse. When Kyrie Irving came to the Boston Celtics he brought some sick handles, a killer instinct, and his signature shoe deal.

Irving is known for having some flashy colorways, and small details on his shoes that mean a lot to him. Irving has had his own signature shoe for around 4 years, with the shoes seeming to improve in design with each model. So let’s take a look at the top 5 Kyrie’s that Irving has worn on the court this season.

5. Kyrie 3 “Mom”

As you may be able to tell by the name of the shoe, this colorway of the Kyrie 3 was dedicated to Irving’s mom. Kyrie’s mom, Elizabeth, died when he was 4 from an illness, and these shoes aren’t the only tribute to his mom. Irving has his mother’s name on his chest with angel wings and a halo. Irving also has his mother’s birthday inked on his wrists.

The shoes feature a rose since most sons purchase roses for their mother. Also a key part of the shoes are a polka dot interior. Suraj Kuafman who was part of the shoe’s design was looking for photos of Irving’s mom and one image stood out. Elizabeth was wearing a polka dot shirt.

Another interesting feature of the shoe is that the tongue logo that usually is emblazenod with Irving’s personal logo, was replaced with MOM. Also on the left midsole is a message to Elizabeth as it says “I love you Mom.”

4. Kyrie 4 “ASG”

This version of Kyrie’s latest shoe is a tribute to Venice Beach as you may be able to notice because of the bright colors. The shoe was originally be called the Kyrie 4 “Tie-Dye” due to the upper design of the shoe but is was later revealed to be Irving’s shoes for the All-Star game. The insoles feature two different drawings of the city.

Besides the black and white tie-dye there are flashes of pink, purple and teal throughout the shoe.

The All-Star game has become a big deal for sneaker companies and their athletes. It is a battle to see who will have the best design and a big money-making opportunity. All the brand’s athletes usually participate in events around the All-Star game to advertise the sneakers. Some sneakers even exclusively release in the location of the All-Star game. If you aren’t at the location of the game you may be paying a 50% markup or more trying to get the exclusive shoes online from a reseller.

3. Kyrie 3 “Aqua Lobster”

This colorway of the Kyrie 3 seems to be a player exclusive as Irving has been the only one to wear these. There isn’t even a true name for the shoes so I made up my own.

You got to give credit to Kyrie. He has really bought in to Boston as you see here. The only way to make these shoes even more Bostonian would be to have a bowl of clam chowder on them. Lobsters are across the entire upper of the shoe.

Irving seems to be a fan of the color. He released a colorway of the Kyrie 3 that was completely engulfed in the color. As we have already seen Irving loves the flashy colors and standing out. You can tell where Irving is on the court just from his speakers even if you are in the absolute last seat of the arena. With these sneakers Irving really turned some heads.

2. Kyrie 3 “Luck”

This colorway of the Kyrie 3 is another homage to Irving’s new home. It’s pretty obvious with green shamrocks covering the entire shoe.

Kyrie laced up in these for the first time when the Boston Celtics played the Golden State Warriors on November 16th. Irving lead Boston to victory over the best team in the league.

These shoes were exclusively released at the House of Hoops in Harlem as well as in Boston. So with such a small amount of shoes being released to the public if you want to get your hands on these now, you are going to have to pay some serious cash. According to StockX, the lowest asking price for the shoe is $2,300. With a pair recently selling for $1,400.

Hopefully this isn’t the last Boston Celtics themed shoe Irving puts out as everyone needs a nice pair of kicks to rock with their C’s jersey.

1. Kyrie 4 “Confetti”

Finally, my favorite. The Kyrie 4 “Confetti” is a great shoe for so many reasons. The shoe is based off of last years finals loss to the Golden State Warriors. The shoes name comes from the fact that Irving carries a piece of confetti from the loss to this day.
As it states on the shoes page on Nike.

More from Boston Celtics

"Kyrie 4 “Confetti” honors Kyrie’s win-or-learn mentality and the memento that reminds him of the incredible experience he can learn from."

The shoe features bright colors all over, with motivational words going along the top of the shoe. The shoe is extremely detailed, and if you are wearing it you will surely stick out.

Next: Celtics go on an emotional roller coaster

As you can see Kyrie has a lot of flashy shoes. It’s been a real treat to see all of the crazy designs Irving has pulled out while with the Celtics. Hopefully, we will get to see some more Boston-centric designs.
