FOXBORO, MA – NOVEMBER 26: Stephon Gilmore /

Stephon Gilmore

Stephon Gilmore is now the top corner for the New England Patriots. Even though he struggled early on in his Patriots career, he finished the year strongly.

Gilmore played in 13 games and had 2 interceptions and 9 passes defended. At the start of the season it seemed like Gilmore struggled to grasp the playbook. By the end, he seemed to be someone the Patriots could rely on to stop top receivers.

With a full season in New England under his belt, I am expecting a lot from Gilmore. He is going to have to shut guys down.

I hope to see Gilmore rack up the interceptions, but as long as he forces receivers to have bad games, I’ll be happy.

If he can perform up to the standard that has been set by Malcolm Butler I expect him to be on ESPN’s list next year.

Next. 3 receivers who need to perform well in 2018. dark

So even though the Patriots had a down year in regards to ESPN’s rankings, I expect the Patriots to have plenty of players crack the top 100 in 2019.
