The New England Patriots dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night and it sure looks like 2019 will be another fun year for Pats fans.
I honestly think things couldn’t have gone better than that. The New England Patriots dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers for 60 minutes and started their season off on the right foot.
This was already going to be a special night for New England. We got the opportunity to see the 6th Super Bowl banner be unraveled.

Pats fans got a nice surprise during the pregame ceremony. Recently retired Rob Gronkowski made an appearance and the crowd was happy to see him to say the least.
When the game started you could tell it was going to be a good one. It only took two drives for New England to get some points on the board.
Now it goes without saying that the defense had a good game. They held James Connor to less than 25 yards and Pittsburgh only put 3 points on the board.
It looks like all the hype they were getting in the offseason was no joke. The rest of the NFL has been put on notice.
New England’s offense had a great performance as well. Whenever you are able to put up 30-plus points that is bound to be the case.
But let’s get to the players who really stood out. Here are the 3 stars from the New England Patriots shellacking of the Steelers on Sunday night.

1. Tom Brady
It seems like Tom Brady may never reach that cliff. The moment where the NFL can finally relax will never come. Brady looks like he will be great for all of eternity.
It really is stunning how well Brady is playing. The quarterback is in his 20th season and still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
Brady had a great start to the season. He was 24/36 with 341 yards and 3 touchdowns. It doesn’t get much better than that. Some players would pray for one game like that. Brady is able to do that consistently.
One of the things that stood out was Brady’s arm strength. We saw him throw some deep balls including a great throw to Phillip Dorsett in the 3rd quarter that ended up being Brady’s 3rd touchdown pass.
Even in his 20th season, it seems like Tom Brady continues to improve. I can’t imagine how happy he is to now have an all-pro receiver on his roster. Brady might have the best season of his career.

2. Phillip Dorsett
I don’t know how much Phillip Dorsett we will be seeing in the future, but he sure made a statement on Sunday night.

Headed into Week 1 we were expecting big games from guys like Julian Edelman and maybe Josh Gordon. There was no way we could have seen a performance like this from Dorsett coming.
Dorsett was the Patriots leading receiver in Week 1. He had 4 catches for 95 yards and 2 touchdowns.
In Week 1 we saw Dorsett show off his speed and get by defenders. All Tom Brady had to do was throw the ball up and let Dorsett go and get it. The 3rd quarter touchdown was the best example of this.
It will be interesting to see how the Patriots use Dorsett moving forward. It will be hard to fit him in with Antonio Brown on the roster.
Hopefully, New England will find some space for Dorsett cause he definitely showed that he deserves a decent amount of playing time.

3. Josh Gordon
Josh Gordon has proven that when he is on the field he is an amazing receiver. The problem is his issues off the field.
It seems like Gordon is in a good place and on the field he is once again showing why he is such a great receiver.
Gordon is an athletic freak and he showed that athleticism off on Sunday night. He had 3 catches for 73 yards and a touchdown. Gordon snagged the first touchdown of the Patriots season.
Tom Brady threw a short pass to Gordon who had plenty of room to run. Gordon took advantage of that open space. He broke some tackles and found his way into the endzone.
If “Flash” can continue to put up great numbers like this he will have one of the best seasons of his career and could add another Super Bowl ring to his resume.
So it looks like the New England Patriots are well on their way to a succesful season and the rest of the NFL should be extremely worried.
