Boston Celtics overcome Joel Embiid, 76ers: 3 studs in Game 1 win
Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown loves the big stage.
Let’s just start calling Jaylen Brown Mr. fourth quarter.
As one half of the outstanding Boston Celtics young duo, Brown actually has a lot of experience on the big stage and he showed it on Monday night.
In the 109-101 Game 1 victory, Brown was simply outstanding in the fourth quarter with 15 of his 29 points in that final frame and it seemed like each shot came at exactly the right time.
Whether it was using his quickness to get by defenders or knocking down key three-point shots, the evolution of Brown’s offensive game has transcended him into an All-Star caliber player who can change the complexion of a game on both ends of the court.
On a night where the team as a whole struggled to find a flow offensive, it was Jaylen Brown along with Jayson Tatum who stepped up and willed their team to a win. As young as they are, the playoff experience really has these two players shining like veteran stars as their youth is not prohibiting them to shine on the big stage.
"“Experience is everything,” Brown said following the game, via ESPN. “That’s the best teacher. I’ve been lucky enough to be to two Eastern Conference finals, so I feel like I bring a lot of experience. [Tatum] also has been to a conference final, so continue to feed that to our young guys and play like you’ve been here before.”"
At just 23 years old, Jaylen Brown is in his fourth season and performing very much like a veteran star, especially in the NBA bubble. For the Boston Celtics to get deep, perhaps another Eastern Conference Finals or beyond, this young stud has to continue to perform the way he has on both ends of the court.
He has the talent, the experience and the maturity to be that player right now. In Game 1 of this first-round playoff series, he proved it.
