RP Andrew Miller to Baltimore for SP Eduardo Rodriguez

Continuing the onslaught of trade news coming from Boston’s front office, left-handed reliever Andrew Miller was sent to AL East rival Baltimore.

The market was crowded for arguably one of the top left-handed relievers in the game this season, and the Red Sox got a good haul in return because of it, in the form of left-handed prospect Eduardo Rodriguez.

While the trades before gave the Red Sox players that could perform right away, this trade allowed them to add to their already-stocked arsenal of prospect pitchers. Rodriguez, 21, was widely viewed as the Orioles’ fourth best pitching prospect, and he is now headed to Boston.

Although he has struggled in Double-A this season, posting a 4.79 ERA in 82.2 innings, Miller was a free agent after this season, so it was a good haul for a rental that could possibly end up back in Boston when the offseason rolls around.
