Since Jon Lester was traded back in July most fans were hoping that the two would be reunited after the season, to do so the Red Sox would need to pony up the money that Lester had asked for. For weeks there were rumors circulating as to where Lester would choose to play, many reporters were saying Chicago, Boston, and San Francisco were the favorites to land the southpaw. Ultimately it was the Cubs that would land Lester, signing him to a six year-$155 million dollar contract that would keep Lester in Chicago through the 2021 season. The Cubs new manager Joe Maddon commented on the addition of Lester saying “He’s been [to the World Series] before. He understands what it feels like. I want to believe that he could foresee the same thing happening here.”
