Live Reactions from Foxboro for AFC Championship Game
By DJ Smith
So I was at the Patriots/Colts AFC Championship Game last night at Gillette Stadium and I’ll tell you what, that place was rocking last night. That was my first Patriots game and honestly it was such a blast to be there and be apart of the beat down that the Patriots gave the Colts, so I figured I’d give a quick recap of what it was like in the stadium last night.
- Came to the stadium around 2:00 to find the parking lots already packed full of people along with T.V’s inside cars to watch the NFC Conference Championship tilt.
- Even in the parking lot, many fans were already looking past the Colts and onto either Seattle or Green Bay.
- Walking into the stadium, there were plenty of fans staying back to watch the end of what was a crazy NFC Championship Game.
- The Patriots entrance is something that can’t be explained, between the music, pyro, and the fans it was definitely an advantage for the Patriots playing at home.
- Seeing Ty Law, Troy Brown, and Tedy Bruschi back as honorary captains was something that brought tons of noise throughout the stadium. Tom Brady would tell WEEI’s Dennis and Callahan that it was the loudest he’s heard the Patriot crowd.
- It started early and continued, but every few series it was announced that someone was reporting as ineligible or eligible. Clearly a shot towards the Ravens and whomever had a problem with last week’s strategy.
- LeGarette Blount was an unstoppable force last night. But I’m sure that came across just fine on T.V.
- Adam Vinatieri and the Colts should not have attempted that early field goal, the wind was blowing right in their face and would have been safer just punting it away.
- Aside from the wind, the first half was actually pretty calm. The rain didn’t pick up until the second half and as far as temperature wise it was a mild 40 degree night in Foxboro.
- When the second half started a lot of people were wondering what was going on, turns out it was because of ‘DeflateGate’
- LeGarette Blount was an unstoppable force last night. But I’m sure that came across just fine on T.V.
- Rob Gronkowski’s touchdown in the third quarter was when Gillette really started to come alive, everyone knew the Colts could not answer the Pats blow-for-blow.
- Andy Studebaker got LIT UP against Brandon Bolden, as expected the crowd went crazy over this.
- LeGarrette Blount was an unstoppable force last night. But I’m sure that came across just fine on T.V.
- Watching the Colts punt the ball away even in the fourth quarter was a head scratcher, when you’re down by that much you need to go for it right?
- LeGarrette Blount was an unstoppable force last night. But I’m sure that came across just fine on T.V.
- It was scary seeing Darrelle Revis go down early, and a lot were worried about his condition throughout the night. But then he picked off Andrew Luck and everyone’s blood pressure went back to normal.
- Jamie Collins continues to be a dominate player on the defensive side of the ball, watching it live was awesome because you got to see how fast and agile he actually is.
- The loudest moment of the night was when Tom Brady came out for Jimmy Garoppolo and then minutes later he was shown on the JumboTron pumping his fist and getting all fired up. I’d compare that noise to going to a AC/DC concert back in the day.
- #2 loudest moment: When Belichick uttered just three words in the post-game celebration: “We’re onto Seattle.”
Overall one of the best night’s I’ve ever had, watching that live was amazing and it’s something I’ll never forget. Even though it was down pouring the majority of the second half, it didn’t take the Patriots fans out of the ball game one bit. If anything it got them more excited.
You can be pretty sure the Patriots won’t see those conditions in Glendale in a few weeks, but once again last night showed that the Patriots are one of (if not the) best team in the NFL.
We’re onto Seattle
