Early Defensive Struggles

The defense of the Boston Bruins was one of the main contributors to their struggles last season and I’m expecting those woes to continue at the beginning of the season. The Bruins top 2 defense men, Zdeno Chara (upper-body injury) and Dennis Seidenberg (back), are both injured. While it looks like Chara may be able to play this Thursday, it is certain a concern as the season begins.
As far as Sedienberg, he has told reporters that he doesn’t know how his back injury occurred but we do know that he will be out until November. If the season started today a pairing of Adam McQuaid and Torey Krug would lead as the top two defensemen and while both are very good players for the Bruins, it will be difficult to replace the presence of Chara and Seidenberg.
