Tight Ends

Grade: C-

Outside of Tom Brady, nobody is more effected by bad offensive line play than Rob Gronkowski. When the offensive line starts allowing pressure to Brady, Gronk is often times forced to stay in and help block. This not only takes away a major offensive weapon, it allows the defense to use more players to cover the other receivers. The Bills were also using everything they had to cover Gronk.

Meanwhile, Scott Chandler continues to underwhelm, as he only had one catch for 3 yards.

Michael Williams has been useful as a blocking tight end, but is rather limited in that capacity. He’ll lineup outside and often go for passes, but it’s very rare that he gets any separation because of his size, unless the defense forgets about him.

It was not a good day for tight ends. They will need to step up with a number of injuries at wide receiver in the coming weeks.
