New England Revolution: 2016 Season Schedule Released
By Brian Carson
Major League Soccer released the 2016 MLS regular season schedule Thursday afternoon after a slight delay. Not all were waiting patiently, including the New England Revolution’s social media manager, who made an entertaining Twitter show out of the delay.
Revolution front office, give this person a raise.
It all started with a humorous Simpsons meme:
Then the GIF machine gears started turning and it soon spiraled out of control with the league account eventually joining in on the fun:
Even responding to the LA Galaxy account’s trolling of impatient fans:
After countless GIFs, the league eventually released the schedule at 4:20 PM EST.
The Revolution kick off their season away on March 6th against the Houston Dynamo (which we already knew a month ago). The Revs home-opener will take place on March 12th against DC United, the club’s latest foe in the 2015 MLS Playoffs.
The rest of the 34-game schedule sees the Revs hosting Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew SC, and New York City FC twice throughout the season.
The Revs will play 10 games against Western Conference teams, which include 5 home games against defending MLS Cup Champions Portland Timbers FC, as well as Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, Sporting KC, and Seattle Sounders FC.
Five Revs games will also be nationally broadcasted:
- April 1, vs. New York Red Bulls – UniMas
- April 17, at Orlando City SC – ESPN/ESPN Deportes
- March 8, at LA Galaxy – ESPN/ESPN Deportes
- August 28, at New York Red Bulls – ESPN/ESPN Deportes
- September 25, at Columbus Crew SC – Fox Sports 1/Fox Deportes
As a self-proclaimed die-hard, today is the day I plan my away game trips. I’m eyeing March 26th against NYCFC at Yankee Stadium, as well as August 28th at Red Bull Arena against NYRB.
Those are a given.

I’m looking to make my first visit to Canada this season with a trip to Toronto FC on August 6th and a ride up north to Montreal Impact’s Stade Saputo on September 17th.
My dedication is limited to the Eastern Conference. Are there any fellow Revs fans out there making away trips to the west coast?
