Tom Brady Leaves Lasting Impression on Kelly Olynyk
Tom Brady praised by Celtics star Kelly Olynyk as one of the more intelligent people he has ever met.
Tom Brady is not only in great shape at the young age of 39, he is also very intelligent. On Wednesday (Aug. 3), the New England Patriots star quarterback was lauded by Kelly Olynyk as one of the more intelligent people he has ever met.
The young Boston Celtics star had the pleasure of hanging out with Brady in July when the living legend joined the team in the Hamptons in an attempt to lure Kevin Durant to Boston. While the Brady effect came up just short in landing the NBA prize free agent, the greatest impact was made on the Celtics players.
He’s one of the smarter people I’ve ever met and I just tried to pick his brain for the hour I got to be with him. ~ Kelly Olynyk
The greatest impression may have been on Olynyk who took the time to discuss the brief meeting he had with Brady. During his attendance at the State House Wednesday afternoon where the Celtics were honored “Heroes Among Us,” Olynyk said he used the time he spent with Brady to pick his brain about being a professional athlete in a city where champions are born.
“He is an intelligent, intelligent man.” Olynyk said via MassLive.com. “He’s been through it all, the rigmarole ups and downs of a professional career, all about Boston. He’s one of the smarter people I’ve ever met and I just tried to pick his brain for the hour I got to be with him. He’s an unbelievable dude and I wish everybody had the chance to talk to him.”
The timing of Olynyk’s comments couldn’t come at a better time. Not only is the star quarterback celebrating his 39th birthday, Brady’s integrity has taken a bit of a hit outside of New England as a result of the whole Deflategate debacle. But, it is his way of dealing with distractions that Olynyk believes makes Tom Brady so smart.
“Just the way he approaches life, all his daily activities, the way he takes care of his body, the way he approaches the game of football, the way he thinks about things, perspectively and logically, kind of big picture,” Olynyk continued. “The minute things, it’s hard to explain but the way he approaches life and the game of football is something special and there’s a reason he’s great and that’s one of them.”
Those attributes will be challenged as the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback prepares to serve the four-game suspension handed down by the NFL. The Patriots quarterback won’t see action on the field until Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns and will have to keep himself prepared both physically and mentally. If anyone is intelligent enough to do that, it is Tom Brady.
