Patriots Gridiron News: Larry Fitzgerald Praises Addition of Michael Floyd
The New England Patriots received positive feedback from Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald following the pickup of Michael Floyd.
It is not often that a team could add a player like Michael Floyd this late in the season. The New England Patriots did just that after the wide receiver was waived by the Arizona Cardinals due to a DUI.
Talent alone, the Patriots are filling a need. The risk comes with his activity off the field. Former teammate Larry Fitzgerald told reporters Thursday that teams called him regarding Floyd’s character. Apparently, Fitzgerald said enough the convince Bill Belichick to claim Floyd.

"“I can’t give you my true feeling because people might get upset with what I really feel, but Mike is like my brother,” Fitzgerald said prior to the signing via WEEI. “I’ve known Mike since he was 13 years old; we come from the same place. I love him dearly.”"
Fitzgerald went on to say that he would never turn his back on Floyd despite some off the field issues. As far as on the field, he said that Floyd has a hunger that makes him a viable pickup for any NFL team.
"“You’ve got a young guy who’s hungry, he’s eager to make plays on a contract year,” Fitzgerald said. “He’s got a chip on his shoulders now – not that he didn’t already have one, but he’s got a bigger one – and I hope he goes and makes a deep playoff run.”"
At 27 years old, Michael Floyd brings size and speed to the Patriots’ offense. He gives Tom Brady another big target. If Fitzgerald is right about his hunger and if he is able to stay out of trouble, he could help the offense tremendously.
