Boston Bruins Players Rask And Marchand are All-stars

These two Boston Bruins will have their first chance to play in an All-Star game later this month in LA.

The Teams were revealed today and the rest of the teams can been found at nhl.com. The All-Star game will be the same format as it was last year. The 3 V 3 mini  tournament.

I am a big fan of the 3 on 3, it allows players like Marchand to show off their skill with more open ice a available. It is much more exciting than the old way, of playing it like a standard game. This also allows the players to have something to play for, the old style was just so slow and boring because the players did not want to get hurt. Now with more room on the ice the games are resemble regular season and sometimes playoff games.

Tuukka Rask will be the “back-up” to captain of the Atlantic division Carey Price. This will be the first time the two rivals will be playing on the same team. They will be a very hard duo to score on.

Rask 29, is now tied for most shutouts this season with 5. He is third in goals against average (GAA,1.93), tied for third in Wins (20), and tied for fifth in save percentage (.928). This is better than last year where he was not even in the top ten in most of the categories. It is nice to see him play at the level we know he can.

Tuukks won the Vezina Trophy in the 2013-14 season. During that season Rask had a 36-15-6 record, finishing with a 2.04 GAA and a save percentage of .930.

Over his NHL career Rask has played in 362 games, with a 187-112-46 record. A 2.21 GAA, .924 save percentage. His postseason record is 28-19-0, recording a 2.11 GAA and .930 save percentage.

Brad Marchand, 28, is leading the team with points so far this season with 13 goals and 22 assists for 35 points. Marchy had his best season last season when he posted 37 goals (career High), and 60 points (career high). He was also a plus 21 in 77 games.  Marchand’s 37 goals place him 6th in the league, it also marked the most goals scored by a Bruin since Glen Murray scored 44 in 2002-2003 season.

Since his full NHL season in 2010-11 season- he leads the league in plus/minus with plus 145, and shorthanded goals (20). Marchy has played in 497 games all with the B’s and accumulated 166 goals, 157 assists for 323 points.

He has skated in 66 playoff games with 16 goals, and 23 assists. During their Stanley Cup Championship run Marchand scored 11 goals throughout the playoffs, which was second to David Krejci.
