Red Sox Region

Round One Results

1. Ted Williams (95%) vs. 8. Carlton Fisk (5)

4. Babe Ruth (38%) vs. 5. Cy Young (62%)

3. Pedro Martinez (45%) vs. 6. Carl Yastrzemski (55%)

2. David Ortiz (90%) vs. 7. Tris Speaker (10%)

I am a little shocked here in the Red Sox region. While I expected some hatred towards Babe Ruth, I still thought he would win his matchup against Cy Young. I also thought Pedro Martinez had a chance to go deep into this bracket, perhaps meeting Ted Williams in the regional final.

Now, this clearly seems to set up a Ted Williams and David Ortiz final. We’ll get there in Round Three, but here are the Round 2 matchups.

Round Two Matchups

1. Ted Williams vs. 5. Cy Young

This is interesting. I certainly think this is Ted Williams’ for the taking, but Cy Young is no slouch. I mean, he has an award named after him that ever pitcher aims to win in their career. I think this could be closer than some may expect.

2. David Ortiz vs. 6. Carl Yastrzemski

Big Papi did more for the Red Sox than Yaz ever did. Carl was a great player, but he was never elevated to the legendary status that Ortiz was.

Bruins Region

Round One Results

1. Bobby Orr (95%) vs. 8. Eddie Shore (5%)

4. Johnny Bucyk (39%) vs. 5. Cam Neely (61%)

3. Phil Esposito (89%) vs. 6. Milt Schmidt (11%)

2. Ray Bourque (74%) vs. 7. Patrice Bergeron (26%)

Johnny Bucyk deserved some more love here. I think the younger, twitter voting, generation stole this one from him. I also though Milt Schmidt would get more votes in Round One.

Round Two Matchups

1. Bobby Orr vs. 5. Cam Neely

Ok, this is Orr’s right? No way does Neely have a chance.

2. Ray Bourque vs. 3. Phil Esposito

This should be extremely close. Different eras, different styles. There’s no telling who will win here, but I’m going to bet on Bourque here.

Patriots Region

Round One Results

1. Tom Brady (100%) vs. 8. Steve Nelson (0%)

4. Mike Haynes (26%) vs. 5. Troy Brown (74%)

3. Andre Tippett (83%) vs. 6. Bruce Armstrong (17%)

2. John Hannah (71%) vs. 7. Steve Grogan (29%)

The first matchup with a 100% winner. Of course, it’s Tom Brady. Everything is going Brady’s way right now. Mike Haynes is often forgotten in Patriots Nation, and he clearly was again. He should have at least been closer to Troy Brown.

Round Two Matchups

1. Tom Brady vs. 5. Troy Brown

The former teammates will square off here. Tom Brady has 5 Super Bowl rings and 4 SB MVP trophies, safe to say he’ll beat Brown out.

2. John Hannah vs. 3. Andre Tippett

Two old legends matchup here. Tippett has been in the public eye more often that Hannah recently, so I think he may win out here.

Celtics Region

Round One Results

1. Bill Russell (95%) vs. 8. Robert Parish (5%)

4. John Havlicek (55%) vs. 5. Kevin McHale (45%)

3. Paul Pierce (95%) vs. 6. Dave Cowens (5%)

2. Larry Bird (100%) vs. 7. Bob Cousy (0%)

No love for Bob Cousy? Not even one vote? He had a tough matchup with Bird but come on. Pierce and Russell ran away with victories in Round One, but Havlicek had to battle. He was initially down big to Kevin McHale but a late surge gave him the win.

Round Two Matchups

1. Bill Russell vs. 4. John Havlicek

11 championships. Case closed.

2. Larry Bird vs. 3. Paul Pierce

Old school vs. new school. Larry Bird is a legend in Boston, but younger fans may push their generation of basketball to propel Paul Pierce into the regional final.

Next: Will Langi and Hollister make the Patriots roster?

You have one full week to vote @CandCFansided. I’m anxious to see these results, and I will keep you updated for Round Three.
