With Danny Ainge leading the way you never know what the Boston Celtics will do on the day of the NBA Draft. There have been tons of rumors swirling around for weeks, but it’s still a mystery as to how the day will play out.

Boston has already traded the No. 1 overall pick to the Sixers for No. 3 and a future 1st Round Pick. They could look to trade down from No. 3 in hopes to land a superstar like Kristaps Porzingis from the New York Knicks. Depending on what players and assets are included in a deal, NY could also send the No. 8 pick to Boston. Phil Jackson has shown interest in Jae Crowder, and if he is included along with Boston’s FRP from next year, the No. 8 selection should be in play.

The Celtics could also choose to stand pat and make a selection at No. 3. The choice would likely be between Josh Jackson or Jayson Tatum. Markelle Fultz is a lock at No. 1 to the Sixers and it seems like Lonzo Ball will go No. 2 to the Lakers. The player Boston selects will depend on if they make a deal or not. Boston may already have a sense of what players they can sign in free agency, so that will also impact Danny Ainge’s actions today.

Gordon Hayward is the favorite to sign in Boston, but the big fish here could be Blake Griffin. There’s a chance that Hayward signs with Miami or chooses to remain in Utah. If so, Griffin could become a priority. He recently named Boston on his Mount Rushmore of NBA cities on Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take podcast.

Draft Rumors and News

Jackson interested in playing with Jaylen Brown

Josh Jackson did not hold a private workout with the Celtics, but he has said he likes the idea of playing with Jaylen Brown.

"“I think it would be great to play in Boston,” Jackson said, via CBS Sports.  “I see a lot of the players on their team that are about the same things that I’m about.  Anybody who knows me knows that I love to win and I see that in a lot of guys on their team.  I would love to play in Boston.”"

Tatum the likely pick if Boston keeps No. 3 (4:42PM)

If Boston keeps the No. 3 pick in tonight’s draft, the sense is that they will select Jayson Tatum from Duke.

Trade Rumors and News

PG13 to Boston?

The Boston Celtics reportedly have a strong offer on the table for Pacers forward Paul George. It’s unclear what the Pacers asking price is or what teams have offered, but Boston, Cleveland, and Los Angeles seem to have made the strongest offers for George. PG will become a free agent after next season unless he signs an extension as part of a trade. He’s made it known that he’d like to play for the Lakers as soon as possible.

Porzingis still a target (2:25PM)

Marc Stein has reported that the Celtics remain in pursuit of a trade for New York Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis.

The Celtics may offer a package of the No. 3 pick, Jae Crowder and a 2018 FRP.

Knicks are asking too much (3:20PM)

Boston looking to acquire No. 7 pick for Knicks (4:00PM)

Clippers offer Boston DeAndre Jordan (4:30PM)

The Los Angeles Clippers are in a strange situation. They don’t know if they will lose one or both of their stars in Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. Now, the Clippers have offered Boston C DeAndre Jordan for the No. 3 pick in the NBA Draft. The Celtics have declined to make that deal.
