Boston Celtics: Isaiah Thomas wins NBA Community Assist Award
Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas is more than just a force on the court, he’s a force in the communities of Boston and Tacoma!
On the same night that Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas was named to the All-NBA Second Team he earned another award that may mean even more to him, the NBA’s Community Assist Award.
Thomas is dedicated to the community in Boston and in his hometown of Tacoma, WA.
Jared Weiss from CelticsBlog spoke with IT this past winter about his community involvement.
"“This is my job. This is what I’m blessed to do,” Thomas said. “I got a platform that I try to use and I try to give back as much as I can to the communities that I’m a part of. This is a time of need for these families and I’m just trying to do the best job I possibly can to help out.”"
December was a big month for Thomas in the community. He was able to help families in Cambridge, MA who were affected by a large fire and also hosted 70 children of Boston military servicemen and women for a holiday party. A toy drive in Tacoma also helped military families out for the holidays.

Thomas will, of course, continue his community involvement in both Boston and Tacoma. I wouldn’t be surprised if he were to win this award once again because he simply cares that much about giving back. It’s always great to see athletes use the platform they were given for a greater purpose.

The Celtics and Thomas will look to dethrone Cleveland next season with the help of new stars, but there is no one in the league that should dethrone IT for this award.
