3. RP David Phelps (Miami Marlins)

David Phelps, a former New York Yankees reliever, could be a great addition to Boston’s bullpen. USA Today‘s Bob Nightengale reports that there are at least 10 teams pining for his services.

Phelps is on the middle of his 6th MLB season, which he has split between New York and Miami. He has already appeared in 44 games this season and he has a 3.45 ERA with 51 K’s. Phelps has had some control issues though, as he has walked 21 over 47 innings pitched.

Boston would likely not need to give up too much to land Phelps, which is a huge bonus. The team wants to hold on to their young prospects, while also aiming to contend for a title this season. Phelps’ contract is up after this season, so he would just be a rental at this time.
