Fingers crossed for Chris Hogan

Chris Hogan is like a Nokia phone. He gets beaten up and thrown on the ground, but he never breaks. Today, Hogan took a hard hit in the upper midsection and injured his arm/shoulder. He left the game and did not return.

This is something that every Patriots fan has nightmares about. Now that Julian Edelman is sidelined for the remainder of the season, our receiver corps is running thin. When Hogan catches the ball across the middle, New Englanders collectively hold their breath.

Hogan went to the locker room and was seen with his arm in a sling. There’s optimism in the clubhouse that this injury won’t keep Hogan sidelined for long, but an MRI will lead to the ultimate diagnosis.

If I know Chris Hogan like I think I know Chris Hogan, then he should be ready to go after the Patriots bye week. This is a man who, in case you were unaware, played lacrosse in college. He won’t go down easily.

I’m not ready to declare that this injury is due to the Curse of Isaiah Thomas. Not yet, anyway. I’m more under the impression that this is Hogan’s weekly injury, and he’ll rub some dirt on it and be back out there soon. If he’s out for an extended period of time, however… It will be code red.

If we do get to code red, which I pray doesn’t happen, it’s time to put Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Kyrie Irving, Andrew Benintendi’s hair, and Rafael Devers in a cryogenic freezing chamber until the curse has run its course. We’ll defrost them and Ted Williams when it’s safe to play sports in Boston again.
