New England Patriots
PASADENA, CA – JANUARY 01: Linebacker Lorenzo Carter /

3. LB Lorenzo Carter, Georgia

Lorenzo Carter would likely be receiving more attention if Raquon Smith wasn’t his teammate, but he’s a great player in his own right. Through 14 games this season he has recorded 58 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 3 fumble recoveries. He’ll likely be drafted between the 2nd and 4th round of the NFL Draft, but he could go even higher if the 6’6″ 242lbs linebacker has a strong showing at the NFL Combine.

The New England Patriots need pass rush help, and Carter could surely give it to them. He seems like the kind of player, like Deatrich Wise, that can step in right away and contribute for the defense. A solid pass rusher added to the mix would give the Patriots a spectacular young core to build around with Wise, Trey Flowers, and the possible addition of Derek Rivers next season as he returns from a torn ACL.
