Settle down New York Giants fans, Bill Belichick isn’t going anywhere and he will remain the New England Patriots head coach in 2018.

New York Giants fans were clamoring for Bill Belichick when a report surfaced that he “saw an opening” to become their coach in 2018. He’s staying with the New England Patriots though.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Belichick said he “absolutely” plans on coaching the Patriots once again in 2018.

Of course, this comes in response to a hit piece written by ESPN recently that highlighted a rigt between Belichick, owner Robert Kraft, and starting quarterback Tom Brady. At the center of that piece was the so-called ‘fact’ that Belichick did not want to trade backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers this season, but was forced to by Kraft due to his loyalty to Brady. The report also touched on Belichick’s disdain for TB12 trainer Alex Guerrero.

After the piece came out, the New England Patriots issued a statement on behalf of Kraft, Belichick, and Brady that the three of them “stand united” and are looking forward to working together for years to come.

Gary Myers of the New York Daily News then reported that the coach “sees an opening” to coach the New York Giants. That won’t be happening according to Bill Belichick himself.

Next: Patriots Divisional opponent: Tennessee Titans

The Patriots will probably use the hit piece as motivation for the playoffs as they get ready to face the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Divisional Round. New England has won two of the last three Super Bowls and they are heavy favorites to win a 6th overall title this season. At 40 years old, Tom Brady still seems like he is at the top of his game and Bill Belichick is still regarded as the greatest coach in the NFL. New England can now shift all of their focus to the playoffs as they make the “Blitz for Six”!
