GLENDALE, AZ – DECEMBER 30: Head coach James Franklin of the Penn State Nittany Lions is dunked with Gatorade by safety Marcus Allen /

Round 5, Pick 150 (via CLE *Hypothetical): S Marcus Allen, Penn State

If New England moves up into the 5th round, it seems like almost any position is an option. They don’t have a huge need for a safety, but Penn State’s Marcus Allen could still be a fit. He isn’t a flashy player, and he needs some improvement in his ball skills, but he fly up and be physical in the run game. As a senior, he played in 13 games for the Nittany Lions and he had his best season with 71 total tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 2 pass breakups, and 1 interception. Allen was a much more well-rounded player this season than he had been in the past. Still, he’s not viewed as a top prospect, making him available in the 5th round. The Patriots can afford to take a chance here.

Though pass rush is the biggest need for the New England Patriots, they could address even more aspects of the defense within the secondary and at linebacker. The search for a potential Brady successor could also potentially end if they find a quarterback that they like. Do you agree with these mock draft pick for the Patriots in the NFL Draft?
