Boston Celtics: 5 reasons Charles Barkley should not dismiss C’s
There are 5 reasons Hall of Famer and TNT NBA Analyst Charles Barkley should not dismiss the Boston Celtics as Eastern Conference contenders.
Now that that NBA All-Star break is behind us, it’s time to address Mr. Charles Barkley and his dismissive comments concerning our beloved Boston Celtics.
While doubting the Celtics have been nothing new for Barkley, especially this season, his recent comments on ESPN’s “First Take” further demonstrated his Celtics hate.
Don’t get me wrong, Barkley has a right to his opinion. But, it appears evident that he takes a chance to dump on Boston whenever they are down. He did it prior to the Celtics fighting back to defeat the Golden State Warriors earlier in the season, and he is taking the opportunity now while the team has struggled going into the break.
During his appearance on “First Take,” he gave us this little nugget.
"“(The Cavs) are the team to beat,” Barkley proclaimed. “There’s only two legitimate teams in the East: them and the Toronto Raptors.”"
So, what about the 40-19 Boston Celtics? Charles Barkley threw more salt into the wound with the following comment to The Boston Globe:
"“It’s a four-team race right now. I think Toronto and Cleveland are the two best teams in the East. And I think in the West, it’s the Rockets and the Warriors. With what the Rockets have done, they could be threats, and the Cavs are right there in that conversation because they got LeBron [James], who can dominant four out of seven games.”"
He has a point, but the Celtics have defeated all four of those teams this season. Granted, they didn’t play well in their last outing against Raptors and the new-look Cavaliers. But, they also haven’t been at full health and really didn’t show up in either of those games.
