5. Kyrie 3 “Mom”

As you may be able to tell by the name of the shoe, this colorway of the Kyrie 3 was dedicated to Irving’s mom. Kyrie’s mom, Elizabeth, died when he was 4 from an illness, and these shoes aren’t the only tribute to his mom. Irving has his mother’s name on his chest with angel wings and a halo. Irving also has his mother’s birthday inked on his wrists.

The shoes feature a rose since most sons purchase roses for their mother. Also a key part of the shoes are a polka dot interior. Suraj Kuafman who was part of the shoe’s design was looking for photos of Irving’s mom and one image stood out. Elizabeth was wearing a polka dot shirt.

Another interesting feature of the shoe is that the tongue logo that usually is emblazenod with Irving’s personal logo, was replaced with MOM. Also on the left midsole is a message to Elizabeth as it says “I love you Mom.”
